Provenance

With my employment at the Phoenix Art Museum we would have the first pick from the extended library sale of discarded books. I wanted to attempt as many one of a kind editions as possible.

The item presented appears to be a first edition copy of "Picasso: the Early Years" by Jiri Padrta, published by by Paul Hamlyn, London, 1959. The book includes a preface written by Jean Cocteau and features his in-plate signature at the end. The book features 29 facsimile tipped-in color plates. The cover features an image of Picasso's 1909 oil painting "Harlequin Bust."
