Construction: Iron. Plates connected with rivets of various sizes and shapes. Additional metal was folded over the seam that runs front to back.. Width 9.25 Height 10.5 Weight 2.75 pounds The rectangular light-colored marks on the helmet are all that is left from adhesive bandages which were used as labels. The helmet was in the private museum in the home of John Marriage of Mullenville, Kansas, previously of Essex, England, since 1899. John bequethed it to Marietta Weaver and it was in her collection from 19__ to __.1984. Marietta bequethed it to Doris Weaver Bird who bequethed it to Ross Bird in 1984. All this time it was kept in the museum of the Eagle Canyon Ranch near Dodge City, Kansas. It was moved to Houston, Texas and kept there until Doris died in 1984. The helmet was held by Ross Bird until his death in 2014. He willed it to his children Tanya Snoddy and Alan Bird. Alan holds it now, in 2021. There are 13 grandchildren of Ben and Marietta alive today who have seen the helmet as far back as 1942 and until now, 2021. I have compared the helmet to reproductions looking exactly the same. They claim to represent helmets used by Spanish Conquistadors in Medieval Times in Europe. j
