This secretary is 87" by 42" by 24". One mirror is cracked, and although in overall good condition, it has a few minor -- repairable -- issues with veneer. All drawers, cubbies, and compartments still function.

It has been in the family for at least 4 generations. Until 1939, it was in a "gilded age" mansion at 985 5th Ave, NY, which was filled with fine antiques, and may have come from his father's neighboring mansion. It has spent the last 75 years in Southern California and the dry air of Arizona.

Good evening, James,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. So that I may best assist you, can you please upload an image of the feet and an image of the interior of the desk?

I have and will upload an interior photo now, and will get one of the feet tomorrow (sorry! I'm 2,000 miles away from the piece)...

James bishop May 15, 00:45 UTC

Note that the feet are visible in the interior photo...

Thanks for the additional photographs.
The interior of this is really spectacular - elevates this from "good" to a "better" example...
If this ends up going to sale, it might bring a bit more if you are willing to identify the person who owned the 5th Avenue 'Gilded Age' mansion...and might influence the estimate as well.
With the information and photographs provided, and subject to physical examination, this is:

A George II walnut veneered double dome bureau bookcase, circa 1740-50
87" high by 42" wide by 24" deep
Finials probably replaced; glass is probably a 19th century replacement. Minor veneer losses throughout, commensurate with age and use.
