It is a short bench, about 3/4 the length of a piano stool, made of dark, hand carved wood. Like a piano stool it has a seat that lifts with space for books and such. I read in a letter from the original owner, that it was made by monks in the north of England between 1400 and 1500.
I inherited it from my parents.
