Kagetsu Saigo Flower Watercolor on Silk
This beautiful painting is on silk 14.5 in x 10.75 in. The colors are very bright. It was purchased by my mother at the Oriental Bazaar in Shibuya Tokyo Japan in Feb. 1977. It has been under glass since then. It has #3500 on the mat and number 46 on the left hand corner of the silk.

Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be what the inscription tells, a japanese watercolour by Kogetsu from 1977, depicting bamboo and flowers. The watercolour is well done, but unfortunately the artist is not listed. The estimate is based on similar japanese watercolours by lesser known artist offered or sold at auction. The amount of 3500 Yen equaled 15-20 USD in 1977. As always "asking prices" in the trade can be higher and vary.
