What does this mean?

This is a vintage 20th century hand built wood and brass altar form cabinet from Korea. Generally, the term tansu is applied to Japanese portable cabinet furniture; however these are also produced in Korean. Although made in an altar-type, these were mostly made for export in this period and used in Western homes as Asian theme decor and usually placed in an entry way, as tv stands or for display. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
