What does this mean?

Dear Jacqueline,

What you have here appears to be a modern Chinese vase with Oxblood glaze. These are also known as Sang du Boeuf ( in Western world originated from France ) glazes or Lang yao hongIn Chinese. These glazes were developed in Ming period and perfected in Kangxi period and later. Yours is quite red bur many have nice colour differentiations in white and purple / blue. Because they are very popular they are produced throughout the ages. This brown bottom is a strong sign of late production. Nice vase in classical form. Modern pieces are still around in great quantities.
