In 1986 Bill Gallo was an illustrator with the New York Daily News. He produced the artwork for the 1986 Mets when they won the world championship. The light fixture on top was to keep it flat when taking the picture.

What does this mean?

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. Based on the photographs and description provided, the subject of this appraisal is a two-sided 1986 New York Mets team poster illustrated by Bill Gallo of the NY Daily News. Condition of the piece is good, with no pinholes noted and slight creasing. The piece does not appear to exhibit fading.

Copies of this piece can be found at secondhand auction sites such as eBay. The most recent recorded sale of the piece came in a collection along with three other Gallo illustrated NY Daily News pieces, with the lot selling for $14.99 in September 2020. Gallo pieces make their way to traditional auction settings only in the form of original artwork, unfortunately.

In consideration of the factors noted, a Fair Market Value (pre-auction estimate) of this piece would be estimated at $10 to $15.
