Miniature scale model of an Antique Desk
16.5"x 7 " inlaid wooden Antique Desk. Keyed areas cannot be accessed because antique key is lost. Upper drawers are locked because of a mechanism inside the upper cabinet. Otherwise in good condition.
My grandmother purchased the furniture from an antique dealer in Cape Town South Africa. Its origins are either British or French.

This is quite a piece! It's a shame the drawers are locked, but a good locksmith can get them open if you decide to sell this. Who knows...the drawers could be hiding some wonderful things!
Based on the photographs and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A miniature William & Mary marquetry inlaid and veneered desk and bookcase
English, late 18th Century
Probably in two parts, the upper part of serpentine section centering a cabinet section surrounded by short drawers, the lower part centering a slant-lid hinged writing area flanked by pull-out drawers over a long drawer flanked by short drawers, all on fluted and tapering cylindrical legs. Bears the circular label of The British Antiques Dealers Association
16 1/2 inches high, 7 inches wide

I forgot to upload a picture of the back of this piece which shows that someone cut a large square hole in order to access the upper locked cabinet and to release the locked drawers. It has been taped up.
