Dear Fran,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. My sincere apologies for the delay with the apprisal.

The presented object appears to be a woodblock embossed print on paper with the measurements of 13 1/4" x 15 1/4". The print with the title "Seat-4" depicts an abstracted motif in black, red, and blue. The print is signed on the plate and hand-signed in pencil on the paper by the Japanese artist Hadu MAKI (1924-2000). He is mainly known for his prints and this print comes from a series with the title "Seat". Rarely drawings by this artist are on the market. The print is also numbered by hand 48/62 and titled.
Works by this artist were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 200 to 400 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
