Solid wood in entirety; approximately seven feet long

This sideboard was gifted to me in 2002 from my maternal grandfather while he was still alive, in part so that he could still enjoy it in a home setting. He had told us many times that he and my grandmother had picked it out at an "antique dealer store" in Atlanta while they were visiting family there in the early 1950's - my grandparents lived in Montgomery at the time. My mother (now 71) says that she just always remembers it being in their house. There are no markings at all to indicate who made this or where it came from (unless on the underside bottom, as we haven't checked there yet). This piece is HEAVY.

What does this mean?

This is an antique, 19th century, Victorian era, Renaissance Revival style 'huntboard'. The carved them is the hunting catch of the day, the design form incorporates round barrel corners. Though considered a French influence piece, this was likely produced in America. The Victorian furniture market is currently slumped. Pieces, even the original period pieces, do not sell for what they used to sell for a few decades ago. The market was further impacted by the Recession. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
