This rifle was used by Edward A Furlow of the 3rd Georgia Regiment, CSA. The rifle has been in my family, at least that is what I was told, since the 1860's. I have the gravestone of my relative, my dad happened to be at the grave when they were updating stones and he has the original gravestone with Furlow's info. The rifle is 52" in length, the materials are wood for the shoulder end of the weapon that continues on the bottom side of the barrel to the tip, the rest is steel of iron. The only ID I could find is an 860 engraved above the trigger, and there is no bayonet. It is in good shape for being in a war and over 150 years old.
This weapon was owned and used in the civil war by Edward A Furlow, 3rd Georgia Regiment CSA. It has been handed down to family members since then.
Dear Charles,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. So that I may best assist you, can you please upload detailed and focused images of all hallmarks, numbers, and stamps on the metal parts of the weapon? Thank you for your help.
With kind regards,
George
