What does this mean?

Dear Jennifer,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry and I wish you a Happy New Year 2021.

The presented object appears to be a sword made for a member of a militia. The strongly stained steel shows no hallmark or similar marking which is a hint for professional and organized sword manufacturing progress. This sword was probably made in the second third of the 19th century.
This piece is in bad condition and there are serious damages visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 100 to 200 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.

With kind regards,
Georg
