What does this mean?

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. Based on the photographs and description provided, the subject of the appraisal is an unauthenticated baseball signed by players comprising the 1971 American League Major League Baseball All-Star Team, purported to be from the ASG itself. The official AL ball is in good condition and the signatures remain strong.

Signatures are believed to include Vida Blue, Norm Cash, Dave Duncan, Bill Freehan, Reggie Jackson, Al Kaline, Harmon Killebrew, Mickey Lolich, Billy Martin, Bill Melton, Bobby Mercer, Thurman Munson, Jim Palmer, Marty Pattin, Jim Perry, Brooks Robinson, Frank Robinson, Cookie Rojas, Earl Weaver, and Wilbur Wood.

The standout signature on the piece includes Thurman Munson, as he passed away before the sports memorabilia market for autographs heated up. While Munson single-signed baseballs are valued in the $5,000 range, recent auctions of team-signed balls including his signature have been sub-$1,000. However, as this piece is believed to be an all-star ball and includes multiple hall of famers, a pre-auction estimate of its Fair Market Value would be $4,000 to $6,000, conditional upon authentication of the signatures by a reputable third-party such as PSA.

This is a conditional appraisal, which means that we have not verified the authenticity of this item. Click here to learn more about the authentication resources that Mearto offers.
