Hi Susan, Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. The carved face at the bottom of the crest is typical of a form of furniture made in England in the late 19th Century, called "green man" furniture. If you'd like for your appraisal to include dimensions, which is customary, please forward in the comments section - at your convenience - the height, width to the outside of both arms, and the length of the rockers and I'll update this ASAP. Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is: An antique Colonial Revival style pressed and carved oak "Green Man" rocking armchair Probably English, late 19th/early 20th Century With shaped crest carved below with "green man" face, over two curved medial horizontal yoke-form splats raised on five turned spindles, serpentine arms over a saddle seat, raised on turned legs joined by turned side stretchers, on rockers. (DIMENSIONS) CONDITION: appears to be in good condition with wear commensurate to age and use PROVENANCE: inherited $75-125* *represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary. Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you again for using Mearto.
