What does this mean?

Dear Mazhar Iqbal,

Thank you for your help and patience.

The presented object appears to be a double-barrel SxS shotgun with a side lock manufactured by ''James & Roberts" in the city of Birmingham. The barrels are made from damascene steel and the lock is engraved with hunting motifs and decor. regarding the proof marks, it was made between 1897 - 1904. Sadly there is no additional information given for the manufacturer James & Roberts in Birmingham in reference books and online databases. Shotguns by this producer were rarely offered through dealers and not through auction houses in the last years.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 200 to 400 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.

With kind regards,
Georg
