Hello Kristin, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Persian Varamin Style Carpet from 1990-2000's. This piece's decoration is dominated by floral patterns as you can easily notice. But if you see it as one piece without many details you can also see that the flowers are actually creating some eliptic centers throughout the piece. This is a characteristic layout for Varamin carpets. But the colour palatte of this piece does not actually correspond to those of Varamin pieces. So this makes me think of two options, either this piece was made in China or It was made by a very commercial atelier in Iran. It's knots are also very steady and stiff so this might be an indication of recent Chinese work. This does not make the piece unvaluable at all! Chinese pieces are actually dominating the market since early 1980's in many types of rugs. Your pieces colour palette is ver harmonious and modern. It would be a perfect interior choice for many types of interior volumes. Based on the photos your piece's materials can easily be determined. The pile of your piece was cotton, I can understand this by taking a look at the fringes of the piece. All the other knot are wool, seems like an over-average quality wool. So this is called wool on cotton technique. The knot type very hard to notice without a physical examination but the knot composition seems more closer to the Turkish Knot which almost would proof the Chinese origin since in Iran they would always knot this type of piece with a Persian Knot(asymmetrical knot). Entirely hand knotted. Dimensions: 12 Feet by 9 Feet Condition: In perfect condition, probably never been used before. Provenance: Owner actually found it on the road, it fell off from a truck. Heavily decorated by floral patterns, wool on cotton. 1500-2000$. Please don’t hesitate to reach us again for more online appraisals on your precious items, thank you for choosing Mearto.
