Hello Mary, I’m glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal. Based on the images and available information, this item is: A Hand Knotted Turkish Silk Hereke Rug. The piece dates back to the period from 1980 to 1990. The piece has an elaborate floral and geometrical pattern with a vase and a bouquet. This bouquet is also shaped a as a "Tree of Life" motif. This motif is one of the most prominent and inspirational motifs depicted on Oriental rugs and is a very complex depiction of human life. The central area is framed with a "Mihrap" motif, this represents the altar of a mosque. The piece is knotted silk on silk. The central area was knotted on an ivory colour as well as a partial intense red base. The border were knotted on an orange base. The knot density of the piece is very high and therefore the motifs were rendered clearly. The piece is in good condition without visible problems. Heavily decorated by traditional Hereke patterns. 2000-2500$. Please don’t hesitate to reach us again for more online appraisals on your precious items, thank you for choosing Mearto.
