Hello Christopher, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Turkish Rug made in Kayseri Style. The piece dates back to the period from 1970 to 1990. The design and the pattern alongside motifs resemble the classical Kayseri Bünyan rugs. The piece however lacks the quality of original Bünyan’s and has a lower knot density. Therefore the motifs were rendered somewhat less clearly in comparison to original Bunyan pieces from this period. The piece is knoted wool on cotton. The piece is centrally decorated with a central medallion. Most of the decoration is floral from borders to medallion. The central area was decorated on a salmon coloured base while the borders were knotted on an ivory coloured base. The piece is in good condition without visible problems. Entirely hand knotted.
