Hi Bart, Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. There are three metals that are magnetic: iron, cobalt and nickel. Additionally, alloys that contain those metals are also magnetic; these include steel and stainless steel. If this is very light in weight, I would think it would be nickel where iron would be quite a bit heavier. Steel and stainless steel are heavier than nickel but not as heavy as iron. It is my guess - based on the photos - that this is steel or stainless steel, the latter of which was a very popular material in the 1930s and 40s. Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is: A vintage Art Deco style steel or iron statue of a dancer European, mid 20th Century The nude figure in contrapposto with classical drapery, on a reel-turned green marble base. Unmarked Figure 8 inches tall; 10 inches tall overall CONDITION: This appears to be in good condition; value assumes no breaks, repairs or losses. PROVENANCE: Purchased at a garage or yard sale $250-350* *represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
