This piece would have been made for the Western market, possibly to capitalize on the interest in Orientalist motifs popular at the end of the 19th Century but which continued on well into the 20th Century. It has a value more decorative than Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is: A vintage Orientalist export tapestry panel made in Italy, possibly late 19th Century but most likely 20th Century apparently woven of rayon, cotton and other textile fibers The landscape composition depicting a Middle Eastern style marketplace scene with figures and donkeys against a backdrop of mosques and arched buildings. Unsigned 21 by 36 inches CONDITION: This tapestry panel appears to be in good condition; value assumes no staining, this is free of odors and there are no tears or losses.
