What does this mean?

Dear Diane,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

The presented object appears to be a serigraph on paper with the measurements of 12 x 16 inches. The print depicts a view of a park or garden. The print is hand-signed with a pencil with the name Eda and has the edition AP (artists proof). Sadly no further information regarding the biography of this artist is mentioned in reference books or similar databases. This print was made in the second half of the 20th century.
Works by this artist were recently not offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 40 to 80 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.

With kind regards,
Georg

Again your lack of knowledge astounds me regarding this estimate. I actually have this painting on listed with other paintings of this artist that you obvious have no knowledge and throw some random price. Shame on you! This piece is on Art brokerage which. i have to wonder how many people have fallen for this scam of a so called appraisals.

Her name is Eda Varricchio,
Her paintings have been exhibited throughout the world. She's has been considered as one of Japan's finest
GARDEN PAINTERS! NOW DO WHAT YOU I PAID FOR YOU TO DO! oh that's right, ive done it for you. Please refund my money

Dear Diane,

Thank you for your email. Indeed Eda VARRICHIO (1923) is listed but her drawings are sold around 200 USD which means that this estimate for a multiple or print is still correct. I can just work with the information that you give me. Eda VARRICHIO (1923) is sadly not very known on the international art market and we have just 6 artworks sold.

We adapt our estimations to actual and reached auction results of the last years. This process mirrors a comparative value and mirrors an actual market situation. This means also that an object should not just be adapted to the highest hammer prices and you also have to see the mid-range and low range hammer prices to define an adequate estimate. That means the given estimate sadly mirrors a real fair market value.

But of course, I ask the back office for a refund.

With kind regards,
Georg
