Dear Dennis, Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. The presented object appears to be a modern replica of a Roman gladius short sword. This typus of sword was used during the Roman Empire. This piece was made in Spain probably Toldeo in the second half of the 20th century. 
Comparable objects were recently offered and sold on the international auction market. 
This piece is in good condition and no severe damage is visible in the images provided. A fair market estimation would be between 40 to 80 USD.
