What does this mean?

Hi Keri

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Hummel figures were incredibly popular among collectors in the 1950s-1990s and there are a lot of them on the market, unfortunately with less demand than supply so it is quite rare for individual pieces to be worth more than $5-50 each, at auction (typically, the earlier ones bring towards the higher side of that range). The value can occasionally be boosted if the piece retains its original factory packaging.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

A near antique Hummel painted porcelain collectible "Sister Hummel" figurine
made by Wm Goebels, Germany, Bearing the impressed "TMK-1: mark in use from 1935-1949 and "#98"
The figure of a young girl with pigtails holding a flower and a basket over her arm.
5 1/2 inches high
CONDITION: appears to be in good condition; value assumes no chips, breaks, cracks or repairs.
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
