Hello Aarron, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Persian Contemporary Tabriz Rug. The piece dates back to the period from 2000-2010. This was likely wrongly attributed or sold as a Turkish piece but the design is not Turkish at all, nor the weaving style. The piece is entirely florally decorated with a central medallion. The piece's very circular and geometrically divided central area is depicting a classical pattern of the Tabriz pieces. In the central medallion there are floral layers styled as stars. The central area of the piece is knotted on a dark blue base while the borders of the piece were decorated on a brick coloured base. The piece was knotted wool on cotton and has the classical modern Tabriz production leather stripes on it's back to prevent the rug from sliding on the floor. The knot density of the piece is considerably high and therefore the motifs were rendered in high precision. Might be intented for use as a wall hanging due to small sizes of the piece. The piece is in good condition without any visible problems. Entirely hand knotted. Dimensions: 5 Feet by 3 Feet Condition: The piece is in good condition without any visible problems. Provenance: Brother of the current owner has purchased this piece from Turkey while based there during the Afghan War. Heavily decorated by contemporary Tabriz patterns. 400-800$.
