Hi Louise, Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. I can't read the mark or the signature (I'm fairly sure both first and last names start with 'G' and the last name ends in '-illo' but I've not found a match with listed artists. This has all the characteristics of large-batch pottery manufacturing in Italy in the 1940s and 50s, post WWII. Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is: A vintage Italian parcel gilt pottery animalier group mid 20th Century Depicting a long-horned cow with two nursing calves, with gilt horns, ears and hoofs on a faux-rocky ground indistinctly signed, with underglaze mark on the underneath 10 inches high, 14 inches long CONDITION: appears to be in good condition; some minor firing cracks to the body of the mother. PROVENANCE: inherited $150-250* *represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary. Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you again for using Mearto.
