About 39 inches long. The blade is steel. There is moderate rust but that can be repaired. The guard is metal, tarnished but not rusted. I'm not sure about the handle. There is also what appears to be a serial number inscribed on the base of the blade near the hilt. The inscription is difficult to read due to rusting. I tried cleaning it a bit. The inscription could be "WIVRCHFRG", "NIRSUAUMUC", "SOEINGIN"

The presented object appears to be an Imperial German Model 1889 cavalry sword with a scabbard. This was a sword used by cavalry troops of the German Imperial Army. This sword was made by Weyersberg Kirschbaum in the city of Solingen. Comparable objects were recently offered and sold on the international auction market. This piece is in medium condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided. A fair market estimation would be between 100 to 200 USD.
