Hi Jonathan, Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. The American stoneware market is about as varied as it was vast but one thing has and continues to drive it: the presence of cobalt decoration on it. This would appear to be a pretty utilitarian 6-gallon (denoted by the impressed '6' on its shoulder) made by S.S. Wandell, a potter about which little is known but that I believe to be related to D.T. Wandell near Troy, N.Y. Due to it's lack of decoration, it will have very modest appeal on the stoneware market. Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is: An antique 6-gallon stoneware jug made by S. S. Wadell, Troy, N.Y., Of circular section and ovoid shape with single loop handle. Inscribed on the shoulder "S.S. WANDELL / --- / ---(S)TONEWARE FACTORY / 6" 14 inches high CONDITION: This jug is cracked. PROVENANCE: Acquired from auction $20-30* *represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary. Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto. ~ Delia
