Hello Michele, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Persian Kerman Rug. The piece dates back to the period between 1950-1970. The piece was classically aligned and decorated as a Kerman piece although it's size is considerably small in comparison to average classic Kerman. The piece was centrally decorated with a Kerman style Central medallion characterized with a certically stretched outline and long floral lanterns hanging from both sides of the medallion. The piece was coloured with a very pale colour palette that would blend in well with a contemporary interior. The piece's central area was knottd on a beige coloured base while the borders were coloured with use of green, saffron and red tones. The piece was knotted wool on cotton. the piece's knot density appears to be average but the motifs were rendered somwehat muddy with a low precision. The piece is in fair condition with signes of use and age as well as a need for professional cleaning. Entirely hand knotted. Dimensions: 2 Feet by 5 Feet Condition: The piece is in fair condition with signes of use and age as well as a need for professional cleaning. Provenance: Previously owned by Anita Norman of San Diego . Heavily decorated by traditional Kerman patterns. 250-300$.
