Hello Michele, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Persian Tabriz Rug. The piece dates back to the period from 1960 to 1980. The piece is entirely florally decorated with classical Persian floral patterns and modern interpretations of the Tabriz pieces. The piece also has some influenced style of decoration likely adopted from Nain rugs, this sort of snowy edges are native to the Nain Rugs and used with blue tones. Runner pieces are elegantly designed for hall and entry ways, differently from area rugs they do resemble a more vertical layout. The piece was knotted by the use of asymmetrical Persian Knots. The piece is centrally decorated with a "Herati" pattern central medallion, this pattern is also duplicated through the decoration. The Herati pattern is constructed between four flower motifs by taking each as a corner and shaping a rotated square. The piece is notted wool on cotton, the piece's knot density is average to high and the motifs are rendered in a clear manner. The piece is in good condition without visible problems. Entirely hand knotted. Dimensions: 2 Feet 7 Inches by 12 Feet Condition: The piece is in good condition without visible problems. Provenance: Unknown. Heavily decorated by Tabriz patterns. 800-1200$.
