This is a painting I received as a gift from my mother. She purchased it from an estate sale in NJ about ten year ago. A signature is present, and the back of the painting has a short bio of Charles Levier, who I would assume to be the artist, and a label for the Veerhoff Galleries in Washington, D.C. The signature doesn’t say Levier (at least to me), but I believe the bio is saying that he worked under the name “De Montfort” which I see in the scribbles more than “Levier.” The gallery no longer exists so I can't get any information from them, and I'm having trouble figuring out the painting's value online because he appears to have painted primarily on canvas, in multiple styles, and paintings range from $3,000 to over $15,000. I’m not sure if the medium of this painting and that it was done under his other name would make this more or less valuable .
