Hi Julie, Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. I'm assuming you just have two - one with yellow upholstery, the other with blue-gray upholstery. If you have more, please let me know as that impacts the value. These chairs are from the 19th Century; I can tell this from their construction. While they *could* have been made from places other than France, I'm giving these the benefit of the doubt since the value doesn't change if these are French or just "European." Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is: Two Renaissance Revival carved walnut side chairs European, probably French, late 19th Century Each with vigorously carved crests centering a raised shell and scrolled ednds, the pierced back with inset upholstered back over a trapezoidal seat over-the-rail upholstered, one in yellow velvet or chenille, the other in a patterned blue/gray fabric, raised on blocky cabriole legs on club feet with casters. Yellow-upholstered chair retains old seat springs. 40-1/2 inches overall height; 20-1/2 inches wide; 17-1/2 inches deep CONDITION: Both chairs in poor condition with wear and losses to upholstery, scuffing, etc. PROVENANCE: Unknown $125-150 for the pair* *represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary. Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto. ~ Delia
