Hello Satalia, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Persian Tabriz Rug. The piece likely dates back to the period from 1980 to 2000. The piece is characterized with the traditional Tabriz style with various modern interpretations. The piece appears to be knotted wool on cotton. The piece is centrally decorated with a classical Tabriz Medallion with two lanterns hanging from each side and the medallion is strectched on the certical axes. The decoration on the piece is very heavy, the general decoration is florally applied. Knot density of the piece is quite high and therefore the motifs were rendered in a high quality and precision. The central area was decorated on a black base which is almost never the issue on the traditional earlier pieces from the mid and early 20th century, this colour palette is a modern interpretation. The borders were decorated with large scaled Persian Safavid Leaves and Flowers on a black base. The rest of the piece was decorated on bases coloured anywhere between ivory and beige. The piece appears to be in good condition without any visible problems. Entirely hand knotted. Dimensions: 7 Feet 10 Inches by 9 Feet 8 Inches Condition: The piece appears to be in good condition without any visible problems. Provenance: Purchased in 2005.
