Hello Brian, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Persian Style Rug likely made in India or Pakistan. The colour palette does highlight India as the possible origin. The piece dates back to the period from 1970 to 1990. The piece has a pattern without a central medallion, instead the motifs were spread out through the central area. The piece is decorated entirely floral. The piece is knotted wool on cotton. The cotton quality and the fringes also indicate Indian origin, since the cotton used during this period in Indian ateliers were of specific quality they tend to tear into very thin strings and appear in a certain way. The piece has "Boteh"motifs on it's border decoration and on the central area we can see motifs with Persian origins but Interpreted in Indian style as a representation. The central area was knotted on a light brick colour while the borders were knotted on a black base. The piece's knot quality appears to be average to high and the motifs of the piece are rendered in good quality, clearly. The piece appears to be in good condition without visible problems, in need of cleaning. Entirely hand knotted. Dimensions: 108 Inchces by 144 Inches Condition: The piece appears to be in good condition without visible problems, in need of cleaning. Provenance: Came from Stirling Club Las Vegas. 350-600$.
