Hello Daniel, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Persian Isfahan Rug. The piece dates back to the period from 1960 to 1985. The piece follows the layout of the classical Isfahan Rugs, it's medallion, floral motifs and central are borders are all characteristic to the Isfahan Rugs. The piece is centrally decorated and this central medallion is constructed with use of floral like shapes detailed by use of lantern-vase shaped extension from the floral composition. This is very characteristic to Isfahan Rugs. The piece is entirely florally decorated. The eliptic central area distinction is also very traditional to Isfahan pieces. The colour palette and the wool quality is rather contemporary as well as industrial quality. The colours are somewhat not harmonious. The base of the central are is ivory coloured while the borders were decorated on dark red colour. The piece is knotted wool on cotton. The knot density is average and the motifs are rendered somewhat clearly. The central medallion has an inner 8 handled floral motif at the center. The piece is in good shape and condition without any significant fault. Entirely hand knotted. Dimensions: 9 Feet 2.5 Inches by 13 Feet 2.5 Inches Condition: The piece is in good shape and condition without any significant fault.
