Hello Bibi, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is a beautiful Entirely Hand Knotted Khorasan Carpet made around 1940-1970. I believe it was at least 15-20 years old at the time of your purchase. It has some very traditional designs to the Khorasan carpets on both it's borders and the central area. Floral motifs are dominating piece's decoration. The piece has for border lines as decoratiand before you reach the central body. Knot density of the piece is not very high, can be considered as average. Due to it's knot density the motifs might look somehow muddy. As the knor density increase the motifs are rendered better, as the knot density decrease the motifs are seen more unclearly. It is a very large carpet and this is making your piece a very nice interior element. These pieces do take a long time to knot as one may guess, a piece like yours can take 6 months to knot if it was processed by just one weaver. Very collectable. Made of wool material, wool on wool. Both the pile and the knots are wool. Entirely hand knotted. Dimensions: 12.5 Feet by 9 Feet Condition: Seems in good condition with some signes of use. Provenance: Unknown Heavily decorated by traditional Khorasan motifs. 1000-1500$.
