Hello Rochelle, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Persian Nain Rug. The piece dates back to the period from 1980-1990. The piece was designed and executed as a traditional Nain Rug. Nain Rugs are known for their high knot density and precision as well as a traditional style and a certain colour palette. The white highlights visible on the piece are considered a signature of Nain Rugs. The piece was centrally decorated with a floral star central medallion. The central area of the piece was knotted on a dark blue base while it's borders were decorated on a beige base. The decoration of the piece both on central area and both on borders are heavy and complex with floral motifs. The piece has a previous appraisal, written. The suggested "lachaques" in the appraisal appears to be corner medallions of Nain Rugs. The piece was knotted wool on silk. The knot density of the piece appears to be quite high and therefore the motifs on the piece are rendered in high clarity with precision. The piece was marked as a Nain rug on it's back in Persian. The piece appears to be in good condition without visible problems. Entirely hand knotted. Dimensions: 16 Feet 4 Inches by 10 Feet 7 Inches Condition: The piece appears to be in good condition without visible problems.
