Hello Bobbi, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, porcelain quality and the colours, I concluded that this is a Hand Painted Candy-Sugar Bowl with Lid. The piece dates back to the period between 1985-2000. The piece imitates the taste of Capodimonte porcelain of Italy with a lower quality of craftsmanship. The embossed floral motifs are perfect sign and example to this as well as the use and style of gilt work. The paint quality is also low with use of lower quality industrial paints. The main body of the piece is decorated with green and gilt, these colours were used to divide the area to “S” shaped panels. Embossed flowers were added to enhance the decoration in Capodimonte style. The lid is decorated likewise with a large handle to the lid, gilted. The piece is marked “Pereiras Valado” and was made in Portugal. The piece has a serial number of 1580. Painting and decoration are not very precise. The piece is in good condition without any significant mistake, small chips to the embossed flowers. Entirely hand painted. Dimensions: Unknown. Condition: The piece is in good condition without any significant mistake, small chips to the embossed flowers. Provenance: Inherited 20-30$.
