Hi Constance, Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. This is made of what is referred to in the doll industry as "composition," which is very much like papier mache but it's harder and a bit more durable, though not as strong as bisque porcelain. The poor repairs to the head affect the value of this doll negatively, and, in this case, I would say it probably has greater "sentimental value" to you and your family because of its history than it has "market value." Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is: An antique composition doll Probably American, circa 1900 With painted features, wearing what appears to be original clothing, stockings and shoes; marked on the back "Lilyon Brinson / Dec 1903." 21 inches tall CONDITION: with repairs to the head and losses to the surface of the arms. PROVENANCE: inherited $75-100* *represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary. Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto. ~ Delia
