Hello Sarah, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Indian Made Oriental Rug. The piece dates back to the period from 1980 to 1990. General patterns of the piece were characterised by classical Persian motif and their Indian interpretations. The piece was not centrally decorated but rather the central area was decorated with duplicated floral patterns. The piece has a very dense and rich decoration, although it’s knot density is not very high and therefore the motifs were rendered somewhat muddy. The central area was knotted on a red base while the borders were decorated on a black base. The piece is knotted wool on cotton. Boders do have some Ardabil style blue decorative elements which enriches the overall value. The piece was imported by the Pande Cameron company of New York which is active in the rug business since the early 20th century. The piece is in good condition without any visible problems. Entirely hand knotted. Dimensions: Unkniwn. Condition: The piece is in good condition without any visible problems. Provenance: Inherlted. Heavily decorated by Indo-Tabriz patterns. 700-900$.
