Hello Dina, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Indian Contemporary Embossed Rug. The piece dates back to the period from 1989-1990. This specific type of embossed rug was first introduced by the Chinese Weaving ateliers in around late 1970's to get a market share from the Oriental Rugs market of the West. This production style was also adopted in India in the coming years. The pattern is a very modern and simplified interpretation of French Aubusson Rugs. The piece is entirely florally decorated and is very thick in terms of pile. The piece is also centrally decorated which means there is a central medallion on the piece. The central medallion is alsod ecorated entirely florally in the European style with simplifications of the motifs. The piece's central area was decorated on an Ivory colour base as well as the borders of the piece. Tulips and roses are easily identifiedwithin the decoration. The piece was knotted wool in cotton, which means the foundation of the piece was cotton while the pile is wool. Designed and produced in pale, modern colours to fit in a modern interior. These pieces are not highly sought after in the market as they were in 1990's. The piece is in god condition without any visible problems. Entirely hand knotted. Dimensions: 9 Feet to 12 Feet Condition: The piece is in god condition without any visible problems. Provenance: Purchased by Ann Rhoades in 1990, NC. 800-1200$.
