Dear Elaine, Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. My sincere apologies for the delay with the apprisal. The presented object appears to be a German cavalry sword with scabbard orientated to the British 1796 cavalry sword pattern This piece or the blade was made by the company P. Knecht in Solingen which is a center for swordsmiths in Germany who exported their blades to the whole world. This piece is in bad condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided. A fair market estimation would be between 80 to 160 USD. This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary. With kind regards, Georg
