Metal blade with what appears to be a sun or crescent moon and 3 stars. Metal handle covered with ornate brown overlay of what material I’m unsure (maybe bone, maybe a resin). It is 8.75” long.

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry, and I apologize for the delay. This is a handmade knife, likely from the mid 20th century. It is likely a hobby piece, although its maker did have considerable skill in metalworking. The handle is likely dyed bone or horn, and the filigree design on the bolster appears to have been originally inlaid with gold and silver. The stars and crescent moon inlay is intact and well-executed. The gemstones do not appear to be genuine, but the white inlays in the handle are likely mother-of-pearl. Given the condition of this piece, and completed auctions of similar items, a fair market estimation is 150-160 dollars. Please reach out with any questions. Bo Stuck
