Appears to be oil on canvas glued to wood. May be a section of a larger painting. Bought in England in 1974 from antique shop on Norfolk coast.

CONDITION: with some crazing to paint and what appears to be accumulation of dirt on the surface (normal; can usually be cleaned off - professionally - fairly easily).
PROVENANCE: acquired in England in 1974

Thanks, Mel. From the photo of the back, this looked to be about 20 by 15 inches and what I valued it on. If its more than 5 inches larger or smaller in either direction please let me know what the dimensions are and I'll update the value. Otherwise, you're all set.
I had the painting looked at by an art shop in Woodbridge England right after I bought it and was told my the shop that it was at least 500 years old. It appears that there was a wash put on the painting several years ago part of which appears to either have worn off or was removed. Not certain.. needless to say am somewhat anxious to hear what you have to say about it.
I won’t be able to get a photo of the back until later today. I will send as soon as I have it. All you are going to see is the back of a thin piece of wood. Do you have any idea as to who painted it. Thank you. Mel
