I don't know the name of the artist nor the frame maker. I'll start with the painting though. It is in very good condition. An oil painting on canvas. The canvas is stiff, but there's no fading, no damage, no dirt or grime. The wood the canvas is stretched around looks fairly modern, but I suspect that is due to the painting having last been transported in a canvas tube and stretched by the most recent owner possibly. The frame is much older I believe. It does have dust build up around the carved details but I think that speaks to its age more than its level of being cared for in the past. The frame itself is in immaculate condition. There are no cracks that I've been able to find. It's a heavy wood. Intricate carvings. There are distinct rake marks all around the inside border of the frame to add texture I'd assume. The gilding isn't flaking at all. I tried to clean off the dust but wasn't able to, and I didn't want to work too hard on it in fear of possibly damaging it.

Dear Ashley, Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. The presented object appears to be a painting made in oil or acrylic paint on canvas with measurements of 55 x 44 cm. The painting depicts the Capitol in Washington, painted in a somewhat haphazard style. Such paintings are typical of artworks made as decorative art in Asia in the last third of the 20th century. This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided. A fair market estimation would be between 200 to 400 USD. This estimate is based on recently recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary. With kind regards, Gregory
