Good morning, Sandi, Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. This is a nice, albeit small, Noritake Royal Crockery (RC) set in the Etna pattern, #439. Generally, Noritake china is currently bringing $1-4 per piece, with larger sets averaging more per/piece. It also is not bringing as much money as it used to; the market for this began to fall in 2008 when Noritake could reasonably be expected to bring $5-10 per piece. The mark was used as early as 1911 but was made through the 20th Century. Sets this small do not bring much on the auction market (the values Mearto gives are for auction, rather than retail resale, which would be higher). I have not been able to find any recent auction sales of this particular pattern but here are recent auction sales of Noritake RC china: ($10) https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/lot-of-vintage-rc-japan-noritake-china-6426e4350d ($160) https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/nippon-noritake-hand-painted-china.-nine-plate-c7ilvzxqs5 Based on the photographs and information provided, and subject to examination, you have a: 40-pc Vintage Noritake Royal Crockery part dinner service for six Etna pattern, #439, circa 1975, comprising: 6 dinner plates 6 entree plates 6 bread and butter plates 6 soup/dessert bowls 6 cups with 6 saucers 1 salt and 1 pepper shaker 1 covered sugar bowl 1 cream pitcher PROVENANCE: purchased new in 1975 in from a department store in Brisbane CONDITION: client represents the set has been rarely used and is in "perfect condition with no chips, cracks or crazing" $30-50 (represents a fair market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary). Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you for using Mearto.
