Dear William, Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. The presented object appears to be a Balkan-made Yatagan hunting sword with a total length of 27”. The blade was made in the Ottoman Empire as visible on the Arabian letter marks and the decoration like the Zulifar sword. This blade was probably captured in a battle between a European power and Ottoman troops and newly reassembled. The grip and the parry bar are distinctly European. The brass appliques of the parry bar are made in a Roccoco style of the second third of the 18th century. It was used as a hunting sword. Comparable objects were recently offered and sold on the international auction market. This piece is in good condition and no severe damage is visible in the images provided. A fair market estimation would be between 400 to 800 USD. This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary. With kind regards, George
