Hello Scott, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, technique and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Blown Murano Glass Vase, made in Italy. Dating back to the period between 1980-2010. The piece is very particular in decoration, we can easily feel that the artist tried to create a sort of underwater experience to the spectator. The turquoise colour was enhanced by using wave shaped shades. The circular shaped decoration inside vase is probably aimed to look like sea creatures, especially like jelly fish. The technique used to make the circular and colourful decoration is called “The Murrine Technique”. The artist cuts circle shaped glass pieces from glass sticks, and place them inside the glass body. This makes the spectator feel like colourful images are trapped inside the vase. Very distinguished decorational element indeed. A collectable and valuable piece. Entirely hand blown. Dimensions: 11 Inches by 8 Inches Condition: In good condition with a small defect on the rim. Provenance: Inherited Decorated by a underwater theme with Murrine Technique. 300-350$.
