This is an illustrated manuscript leaf depicting the Annunciation to the Virgin. My best information is that it's mid 15th c. French. It's on vellum with foliate designs and gold leaf details. There are hand written 'penned in' notes at the bottom. It's in a beautiful gold leaf frame. It was inherited from my Father, Harry Bober, a noted NYU Medievalist, in 1988
5-1/2" x 7-1/2"
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is a very nice example with strong colors and a bold decorative composition, which uses all of the page.
I can't see the frame in the photos you've attached but if you can upload one to this appraisal I will mention it in my cataloging.
