Hello Lisa, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Mexican Serape Blanket. The piece likely dates back to the period between 1990-1994. The piece was classically decorated as a contemporary Serape Blanket but with fringes which shows how the textile material have turned into a floor decoration instead of it's initial use. The piece is classicaly decorated with oriental inspired patterns with pale interpretations. The piece is centrally decorated with a geometrical medallion. Stripes are the largest part of the decoration as usual to Serape Blankets. Unlike most, this piec has fringes added to it. Wool material. The piece is in good condition without visible damages but signs of use and age are visible. Entirely hand knotted. Dimensions: 6 Feet 4 Inches by 2 Feet 8 Inches Condition: The piece is in good condition without visible damages but signs of use and age are visible. Provenance: Purchased from a textile show in 1994. 30-50$. Please don’t hesitate to reach us again for more online appraisals on your precious items, thank you for choosing Mearto.
